Licensed Massage Therapist
Integrates joint mobilization with effective massage techniques
Focuses on gait and postural issues
Ayla Scott has been a licensed massage therapist since 1996, and brings a multitude of skills and talent to the table. In her initial evaluation, she assesses joint mobility through movement of the spine and limbs to determine if any fascial restrictions exist. Her intention is to resolve issues and restore movement to the body overall. Her techniques bring relief of pain, freedom of movement, and overall well being and she delivers these techniques without creating soreness or bruising of the tissues. She has found that intense deep tissue massages create resistance in the tissues so she works just below that level quite effectively.
With an intention to restore healthy movement to painful muscles and stuck joints, she can unravel restrictions, giving long-lasting relief, improving range-of-motion, and addressing ineffective structural and muscular movement patterns. With a background in personal training, she shows clients customized stretching and strengthening exercises they can do at home that is specific to their problem areas — thereby giving the client more power over their performance and recovery on a day-to-day basis.
Ayla’s personal life includes hanging with her dog, Gumbo, spending quality time outdoors at concerts, hiking, camping, floating on the river, organic gardening, and enjoying all Austin has to offer with her close friends and family.

Ayla’s Rave Reviews
I dropped in without an apt and they were very professional and welcoming. My therapist was Ayla Scott and let me tell you, that girl knows what she is doing. I have two torn hamstrings and serious tension in my neck. Ayla went to town on me and I left there two inches taller and feeling great. If I lived in Austin, I’d be a regular client for sure!

My first massage at The Austin Bodyworker was with Ayla. After sleeping on my side funny the night before, I was rendered what felt like near-paralysis (on New Year’s Eve!).
For the first half of the day, I could not sit or lay down without pain. I couldn’t turn my head more than an inch in either direction and couldn’t raise my right arm over my shoulder.
What I appreciated most about my massage with Ayla was her attention while listening to my “story” and application of that information into her massage with me. She took it all very slow, which was important because I was worried about pain with movement or touch. She also explained everything she was doing, and why – loved that part. As someone else who is incredibly interested in the human body and its biomechanics, her explanations of what she was finding/feeling really made sense.
I’m not planning on doing any tumbling tonight BUT the way I feel is night and day. I’m glad I get to ring in the new year with less pain!
All of the staff I’ve interacted with at The Austin Bodyworker is great, not to mention their space is amazing and relaxing and the location super easy to get to and find.
I highly recommend this place not only in situations of dire need like mine, but as a preventative or recurring massage!
