The Austin Bodyworker is a high caliber clinical massage therapy practice located in a new, expanded office at 12th and Lamar Blvd. Each therapist on staff is nationally-certified and at the top of their field. Founder Kate Ripley has built a name for herself serving clients with a can-do attitude and a brand of massage that meaningfully addresses the injuries and issues that affect us all.
We have one product: great massage. We focus on particular muscle groups to address whatever the client specifically needs – in both the short and long-term. We are-orienting people to what massage can be—bringing science back into the picture, and focusing on real benefits. Massage is about health, not luxury.
We don’t do so-called “spa massage”. No cucumbers allowed, as we say.
Who do we serve?
From elite athletes to stressed-out desk jockeys to over-worked moms and everything in between—we can offer relief.
Along the way we strive very hard to educate. Our mission is to help people understand why a preventative wellness program should be in the forefront of every individual’s health goals. You should know you body and know your limits, and you should know what it takes get from point A to point B. Good habits and informed choices make for good health. You’ll learn a lot about yourself by working with us — there are continuous feedback loops, and we customize every session to match.
What kinds of massage do you do exactly?
Within clinical massage generally, we employ many different massage techniques, including Deep Tissue, Neuromuscular, A.R.T. (Active Release Technique), Orthopedic massage. There are even special techniques for pregnancy massage, sports massage, and more.
On intake, we will take a brief but detailed health history, talk with you about what your preferences are, and discuss what the therapist feels would benefit you the most.
And, with healthcare continuously evolving, we are evolving along with it. We’re particularly proud of the emphasis we put on continuing education, and innovation.
